Placed in the site header it is visible on every page without taking vertical space; placed in the footer it adds context without competing with your main content. Financial blogs often pin it under the navigation so readers can glance at gold and silver while reading an article.
Designed to stay out of the way
The ticker is one row of text: metal name in your accent colour, the price in the unit you choose, and the 24-hour change in green or red. There is no marquee animation, because moving text is hard to read, distracting on mobile and a known accessibility problem. On narrow screens the row simply wraps to a second line. The background is transparent, so the ticker inherits whatever bar colour your theme uses, and the whole frame weighs a few kilobytes with no external fonts or scripts.
Units, currencies and updates
Show prices per gram, per troy ounce or per kilogram in ten European currencies. Values are rendered on the server so the ticker is never blank on first paint, then refreshed in the background every five minutes. If a feed is briefly unavailable the ticker shows a dash instead of a zero and retries automatically, which avoids the worst failure mode for a price display: confidently showing a wrong number.
