Gold Price Widget
Charts & history
Historical prices describe a particular source, currency and time interval. Compare monthly averages separately from current spot quotes; neither is a forecast or an executable trade.

Gold price in 2025
Gold price in 2025: twelve verified monthly averages in USD per troy ounce from the World Bank Pink Sheet. Chart, source dates, full table and limitations.
Ten-year gold history
Gold price over ten years: monthly USD averages from October 2016 to September 2026. Verified World Bank data, chart, table and explanation of past prices.
Monthly history uses the World Bank Pink Sheet. The widget’s mini-chart uses MetalflowAPI daily observations when available. These are different series: a monthly average is not a daily close. Read the methodology before comparing them.
Monthly averages answer a different question
The historical pages use monthly US-dollar averages per troy ounce from the World Bank Pink Sheet. A monthly average smooths variation within the month; it is not a closing price or the highest trade. The 2025 page displays all twelve observations, while the ten-year page uses the fixed October 2016 to September 2026 window. Source dates and the full observation table are provided so that a visitor can inspect the numbers behind the chart.
Do not silently convert old prices
Multiplying a 2016 dollar price by today’s exchange rate does not establish what a euro or pound buyer paid in 2016. A proper local historical series needs historical exchange rates or a matching local benchmark. These charts deliberately remain in nominal USD rather than inventing that conversion. They also do not adjust for inflation. A change between two monthly averages describes that series, not a saver’s net return after premiums, custody, tax or dealing costs.
Keep the live mini-chart distinct
The widget’s mini-chart uses recent MetalflowAPI daily observations when available. It can be absent if the source cannot supply valid points. That is separate from the historical monthly snapshot, which changes only when a new workbook is checked and imported. Neither chart predicts a future price. When comparing sources, align currency, unit, observation time and averaging method before attributing a discrepancy to an error. The methodology page explains the source boundaries and calculation choices. Read the vertical axis before interpreting how dramatic a price change looks. A truncated scale and a zero-based scale can depict the same observations very differently. Compare the actual table values, the percentage change and the interval used, not just the slope. If you need a transaction-date estimate, a monthly average cannot identify that day’s accepted buying price. Retain the dated dealer quote or consult a suitable daily historical source instead. A chart of metal content also excludes the costs of buying a particular bar, coin or jewellery item.
