How the gold price widget works

The builder above generates a small, self-contained price widget that you host nowhere — it lives on our servers and you simply point an iframe or a one-line script at it. Pick the metals you sell or write about, choose a currency, decide whether to quote per gram, per troy ounce or per kilogram, match your brand colour, and the embed code updates as you click. There is no signup, no API key to manage in your website and no database.

Every request to the widget is answered with server-rendered HTML that already contains the latest gold price. That matters: search engine crawlers, email preview tools and visitors on slow connections see a real number instead of an empty box. A tiny inline script then refreshes the quotes every five minutes without reloading the page. If a quote is ever unavailable, the widget shows a dash rather than a misleading 0.00, and retries after 30 seconds.

WordPress, Shopify, Wix and Squarespace

On WordPress, add a Custom HTML block to any page, post or sidebar widget area and paste the iframe snippet. Block themes, classic themes and page builders such as Elementor or Divi all accept it; Elementor users can drop it into an HTML widget. There is also an official MetalflowAPI plugin if you prefer a shortcode.

On Shopify, paste the code into a Custom Liquid section or into a page using the HTML editor — a live gold price next to your buy button reassures customers that your pricing tracks the market. On Wix, use the Embed HTML element; on Squarespace, use a Code block. Ghost, Webflow, Joomla, Drupal, Notion sites and plain static HTML pages work exactly the same way, because the widget is nothing more than an iframe.

Caching, speed and reliability

Upstream quotes are cached in memory for ten minutes per currency and served with CDN cache headers, so thousands of page views cost a handful of upstream calls. If the upstream feed hiccups, the last known good price is served for up to 24 hours instead of showing an error to your visitors. The widget loads no web fonts, no analytics and no JavaScript framework, has a transparent background so it blends into any design, and the iframe is marked loading="lazy" so it never blocks your Core Web Vitals.

Supported currencies and units

Choose from EUR, USD, GBP, CHF, PLN, SEK, DKK, NOK, CZK and HUF — the currencies most European jewellers, scrap gold buyers and pawnbrokers quote in. Gram pricing is the default because that is how the retail trade in Europe quotes gold; troy ounce pricing suits investment and bullion content, while kilogram pricing suits wholesale and refinery audiences. Three layouts are available: a slim ticker line for headers and footers, a compact card for sidebars, and a mini card with a 30-day sparkline that shows visitors where the market has been trending.
